Welsh Military - This infantry regiment was formed in 2006 by the amalgamation of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and Royal Welch Fusiliers. Since then, it has been involved in numerous deployments including the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This unit, one of the largest armored regiments in the army, was formed on St David's Day 2006 by the amalgamation of the Royal Welsh Regiment (24th/41st Foot) and the Royal Welch Fusiliers. Initially, it consisted of two regular battalions, one armored infantry and one light infantry, along with a battalion.

After the formation of the regiment, Queen Elizabeth II became its colonel. It continues its long tradition of providing a goat to the unit that serves as a high-ranking soldier, not just a mascot.
In April 2006, the 1st Battalion deployed to Cyprus and then to Afghanistan from October 2007 to April 2008. It later returned to Afghanistan for operational tours in October 2009 and April 2012.
Between May and November 2007, the 2nd Battalion deployed to Iraq during Operation Telic. In 2009 and 2011, the battalion deployed to individual companies in Helmand, Afghanistan.
In April 2014, the 2nd Battalion was merged with the 1st to form a single armored infantry battalion. In recent years, this has been deployed in operations and exercises in Somalia, Estonia, Ukraine, Germany, Kenya, Canada and the United States.
